According to IDEAL, Tottenham are interested in signing Granada defender Domingos Duarte, a player who Nuno Espirito Santo knows well.
What’s the story?
Well, the Spanish news outlet believe Tottenham are even preparing a €10m (£8.6m) bid for the 26-year-old.
It remains to be seen how Granada take that, as their No.22 has a €30m (£25.7m) release clause written into his contract.
Nevertheless, it would be foolish negotiating from Fabio Paratici if he started the bidding high, so you can understand Tottenham’s decision.
Duarte has never played under Nuno. However, IDEAL state that the Tottenham boss knows him well.
In fairness, they are both Portuguese, and Duarte has won two caps for Portugal, so perhaps their paths have crossed at some point.
Granada paid just €3m (£2.6m) to sign the centre-back, whose contract expires in 2023 – it seems they could soon receive a big profit.
Have Spurs and Nuno given up on Kurt Zouma?

Recently, Sky Sports revealed that Tottenham are interested in signing Chelsea defender Kurt Zouma.
West Ham are also eyeing the Frenchman.
Following IDEAL‘s news about Duarte, you could argue that Spurs have given up trying to sign the 26-year-old, who Chelsea want £25m for.

Alternatively, Tottenham could just be identifying alternatives to their other centre-back targets, in case no progress is made in those pursuits.
Nevertheless, it’s good to see Spurs and Paratici linked with multiple targets as opposed to just one.
It suggests the north Londoners aren’t just putting all of their eggs into one basket, which is certainly a wise strategy.
