Report: Spurs players would back Graham Potter appointment

According to Football.London, some of the Spurs players would be fully behind any move to bring Graham Potter in as Jose Mourinho’s successor.

In a report compiling the list of names mentioned to succeed Mourinho at Spurs, Potter is one of the managers mentioned.

And within that, it is claimed that some of the Spurs squad would back a move for Potter, after being impressed with his playing style. That style has thought to have left a ‘lasting impression’ on some in the Tottenham dressing room.

Potter would not come cheap, however. He has a contract until 2025 and Brighton have already made their stance clear over Potter, with the club believing his immediate future lies with them.

But Spurs could well go all out to land their new boss. Daniel Levy is under pressure to get it right this time and Potter, although not having the experience of some others on the list, has impressed on the south coast.

The likes of Erik Ten Hag, Brendan Rodgers, and Rui Vitoria are seemingly out of the running for now. Potter, then, could well be the next best alternative.

TBR View: Potter’s style easy on the eye but yet to prove himself really

No one will question that Brighton are good to watch. They play nice football and keep the ball on the deck in the main.

But they still seem to battle it out at the bottom and in some games, seem a soft touch. That has changed a bit recently, with Webster, Dunk, and Ben White holding the fort in defence.

Spurs would be a big step up for Potter. Then again, he’ll have to take the plunge one day. The risk really is more with Levy and the board and if they’d afford Potter the time, money and patience to get things right.
