Tottenham Hotspur have joined the race to sign Giorgi Mamardashvili, according to Marca.

Spurs are seemingly on the verge of landing Fraser Forster as an experienced deputy for Hugo Lloris.

However, Antonio Conte is also eyeing a long-term replacement for the Tottenham and France captain.

And Mamardashvili appears to fit the bill for the Spurs boss.

The 21-year-old currently plays for Valencia and has also won two caps for the Georgia national team.

Mamardashvili has made a name for himself at Los Che after joining from Dinamo Tbilisi last summer.

He was on loan at Valencia, who in turn signed him permanently for £765,000 at the start of 2022.

Mamardashvili has made 21 appearances for the La Liga club, keeping an impressive nine clean sheets.

Marca – via Sport Witness – claims Valencia have the 6ft 5in keeper on the market.

Manager Jose Bordalas has publicly stated the club need to raise €70m (£59.5m) to balance their books.

Spurs are reportedly ‘already thinking of a future replacement’ for Lloris, and identified Mamardashvili as the target.

“Acquiring a lot of skill”

Marca make it clear that Tottenham (or any other club) have not made an offer so far for the keeper.

However, Mamardashvili’s sale would help Valencia improve their financial situation.

As well as Spurs, Manchester United are reportedly eyeing the Georgian too.

Mamardashvili reportedly has a €20m (£17m) release clause in his current contract, which runs until 2024.

In May, Bordalas was asked about the player’s buyout clause.

“I have no idea,” Tribal Football quoted him as saying.

“These are contractual issues involving the club. I don’t know and I can’t help you.

“He is incredible, performs at a great level and is acquiring a lot of skill.

“The coaches and his teammates are helping him. We are very happy and satisfied with his performance.”
