Tottenham Hotspur have been in contact with the representatives of Marcelino as they step up their search for Jose Mourinho’s successor, according to a report from The Athletic.
After an incredible few days, Spurs fans can perhaps now start to focus more of their attention on who could be coming in to replace the Portuguese.

A number of names have already been linked with the post. The Athletic notes that Julian Nagelsmann is their top target. Meanwhile, the likes of Scott Parker and Ralph Hasenhuttl seem to have admirers at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
But it appears that Marcelino is also on their radar. The Athletic reports that contact has been made with his representatives.

The report adds that he would not be too expensive due to certain clauses in his contract with Athletic Bilbao.
TBR View: Marcelino not one to waste time before stamping his mark on a team
The 55-year-old was only appointed by the Basque club in January. But he has taken little time to instil some of his principles in the Lions’ squad.
They have tended to be difficult to beat while using his 4-4-2 system. They have only lost five of his 22 games in charge.
Nine of those fixtures meanwhile, have ended in victory – four of which have either come after extra-time or on penalties in the cup competitions.
Athletic are a hard-working side. So it would be interesting to see if anything comes of the reported contact with Marcelino’s people.
