Reported Tottenham Hotspur target Andre Onana will reportedly be allowed to leave Ajax this summer and Spurs have already made preliminary enquiries for the goalkeeper, according to French outlet L’Equipe.

the Daily Mail claimed in February that Onana had reportedly set his sights on a move to the Premier League this summer, with Spurs and Chelsea seemingly his preferred destinations.

Tottenham have signed several players from Ajax in the past – Jan Vertonghen, Christian Eriksen and Davinson Sanchez to name but three – and are seemingly interested in raiding the Eredivisie club once again for the 24-year-old.

The L’Equipe report, as translated by Get French Football News, says Spurs are still interested in Onana and have “already made moves in his direction”, along with Chelsea.

However, the player himself seemingly “has identified a host of clubs in Spain, England and Germany where he could see himself at, as well as one in France: PSG”.

In addition, Onana will reportedly be allowed to leave Ajax this summer by Director General Edwin van der Sar and Sporting Director Marc Overmars, with the Dutch giants looking for a fee in the €30million (around £26million) region.

TBR View:

Onana has gone from strength to strength at Ajax since his arrival from Barca’s academy in 2015, becoming the Amsterdam giants’ number one and conceding less than a goal a game at senior level.

According to Transfermarkt, he has conceded 158 goals in 178 appearances, and kept 74 clean sheets – a superb record considering his age and how keepers don’t tend to peak until their late twenties or early thirties.

Onana is tall, agile, quick off his line, boasts great ability in starting attacks and solid command of his area – indeed, he was highly praised by Manuel Neuer last summer, the German icon saying he was Onana’s “biggest fan” (Goal.com).

Although he appears to be most interested in a move to Paris Saint-Germain – “privately, he has told those close to him that he would be delighted to play in France and that PSG have an attractive project”, writes GFFN – that’s not to say he has already crossed off every other option.

At the reported £26million price, he would be a great addition to Jose Mourinho’s squad, vying with Hugo Lloris for the gloves and potentially replacing him further down the line.
