Reported Tottenham Hotspur target Ben Godfrey is now said to be on the radar of Bayer Leverkusen, according to Sky Sports.
The Norwich City defender was linked with Spurs in July, The Sun claiming that Jose Mourinho’s charges were one of several sides interested in the 22-year-old.
Godfrey has made 75 competitive appearances for the Canaries since joining from York City in 2016, including 30 in the Premier League last season.
Although Norwich were relegated after just one season in the top flight, Godfrey’s performances and potential appear to have put him on the radar of multiple teams.
The latest Sky Sports report claims that Leverkusen are expected to step up their interest later this week once Kai Havertz completes his expected move to Chelsea.
As well as the Bundesliga’s fifth-placed side, there is also reported interest in Godfrey from fellow German sides Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig, plus Italy’s AC Milan.
Godfrey has shown over the past two seasons that he’s destined for big things, with Daniel Farke’s decision to switch him from midfield to defence proving an absolute masterstroke.
Farke told Pinkun in August 2018: “I have the feeling when he gets used to this position and can have more games to learn the decision-making in the last row, because it is different, he has all the ingredients to be an outstanding centre-back, world class.”
With Jan Vertonghen having left Spurs, the North Londoners would do well to bring Godfrey to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, but with so many clubs seemingly after him and Norwich reportedly wanting £30million, it won’t be easy.
