Tottenham Hotspur announced yesterday that Oliver Skipp has signed a new long-term contract at the club.
Daniel Levy is often criticised for his methods at Spurs but the one area where he deserves immense praise is for the way he sorts out his players’ contracts.
Harry Kane and Son Heung-min are two of the best players in the country at the moment and although there’s always the risk of rival clubs making a move for them, their contracts put Tottenham in a strong position in potential transfer negotiations.
The same now applies to Skipp, who is one of Tottenham’s most exciting young players at the moment.
Tottenham expect Skipp to see out his contract
Skipp, branded as ‘superb’ by Graham Roberts, has been at Tottenham almost all his life. He joined Spurs when he was just five years old and his dream has always been to become a regular for the senior side. It’s safe to say, he has achieved that.
The Athletic have shed some light on Skipp’s new deal, which sees him more than double his previous salary of £30,000-a-week. The youngster has signed a five-year contract until 2027 and insiders at Tottenham truly believe that he will be at the club at least until the end of that term.
The report also claims that Antonio Conte was desperate for Skipp to sign a new deal. It has been claimed that the Italian is a big fan of the young midfielder and absolutely loves working with him.
Now that the deal is signed and sealed, Conte will be hoping to have Skipp back in action very soon.

TBR View:
Skipp is still only 21 and barely has any experience at the top level. However, he still managed to become one of Tottenham’s most important players this season.
After he suffered his injury in the last week of January, Spurs often looked lost. They just couldn’t control the game from the middle of the park as they would’ve liked to, and Conte was furious with his medical department as a result.
It is expected that Skipp will return to action very soon and that is a huge boost for Tottenham. Spurs fans can’t wait to see a midfield pairing of the youngster and Rodrigo Bentancur, the prospect of which is really exciting, even for the neutrals.
It’s in Tottenham’s hands now to finish inside the top four and Skipp’s return could give them an edge over their rivals.
