Tottenham Hotspur have held talks with Corinthians over a potential £8.5 million move for Rodrigo Varanda, according to a report from The Sun on Sunday (2/5; page 63).
The report claims that the 18-year-old has impressed Spurs’ scouts. And discussions have already taken place over a possible switch to North London.

Interestingly, The Sun on Sunday (2/5; page 63) claims that Varanda is out of contract in January, but Corinthians are working on extending his terms to ensure that they net a good fee for the teenager.
Varanda is a player who can play on either wing, as well as in a number of other roles. He has predominantly played out on the right for Corinthians this term. But he has also featured as a striker.

He is a player who looks to enjoy running with the ball and using his power to avoid being knocked off it by opposition defenders.
Probably unsurprisingly, Varanda looks to have a piece of skill up his sleeve. But he is also willing to contribute defensively and work hard for the team.
Of course, much may depend on who Spurs appoint as their next boss.
If they go for someone keen on developing young players, Varanda may be the kind of player who they would like brought in.
However, if they want more of an immediate impact, they may perhaps rather Daniel Levy holds onto the £8.5 million and invests it elsewhere.
