Spurs are apparently turning their attentions to South America, with Palmeiras central midfielder Gabriel Menino apparently one of the players the club are keen on.

Sky Sports claim Spurs are looking to South America to try and get around Brexit rules. And Menino, a 20-year-old midfielder who has impressed in Brazil, is apparently a target for the club.

Mundo Deportivo also claim that Palmeiras will be open to selling Menino. They state that a fee in the region of £15m could be enough, despite the midfielder having a £50m release-clause in his current deal.

Menino is regarded as an all-action midfield player who can get from box to box. He got six assists last season, and at just 20, has years ahead of him in terms of development. However, he can also slot in at right-back if needed, a position where Spurs have, at times this season, looked suspect.

A lot of Spurs’ spending will depend on their ability to reach the top four, of course.

Given Menino is only 20 and he’s already been called up to the full national team, it’s clear that he is a highly-regarded talent in his country.

Spurs are wise to cast their net far and wide to attract this type of talent. Menino looks a top player already and will surely only improve further.

The club have had success with Brazilian players before. The likes of Sandro, and now Lucas Moura, doing well. Menino, then, could be the next in line to enjoy success in North London.
