Report: Spurs have agreed £20.5m deal for Duje Caleta-Car
Spurs have agreed a deal to sign Croatian defender Duje Caleta-Car for £20.5m, according to Croatian outlet SportKlub.
The Marseille defender has apparently agreed terms with Tottenham over a move and could finalise the deal in the coming days.
Caleta-Car has been linked with a move to England previously. West Ham were thought to be interested in him this summer, with a fee of around £17m mentioned at the time.
But it appears that Fabio Paratici and Spurs have struck to beat the Hammers to a deal for the Croatian star.
Caleta-Car, 24, has won 16 caps for his country and appeared in Euro 2020.
He’s made just shy of 100 appearances for Marseille, following on from making over a century for RB Salzburg previously.
The arrival of Caleta-Car would further strengthen Tottenham’s defensive options. The club are also chasing Cristian Romero, while Takehiro Tomiyasu is also linked.
New transfer guru Paratici is quickly getting down to business it seems with Spurs. The report from SportKlub claims Caleta-Car has ‘agreed everything’ with Tottenham.
Another one over the line?
If this report is true, then it looks that way. And what a shrewd signing it could be.
24-year-old Caleta-Car has bags of potential but crucially, already has loads of experience at the top level. The Premier League is a natural next step for him, given his excellent performances for Marseille and Salzburg.
Spurs seem to be motoring along nicely with Paratici in the driving seat at the moment. Landing Caleta-Car is another example his fine work.
