Report: Spurs could let £30m Pochettino signing leave this summer
Ryan Sessegnon could be set to leave Spurs once again this summer, as the club work out what’s best for the former Fulham winger.
Sessegnon signed for Spurs back in 2019 with Mauricio Pochettino still in charge of proceedings. The club paid around £30m for his services, but as yet, he’s not quite flourished.
The 21-year-old spent last season on loan with German outfit Hoffenheim, where he did well and received glowing reports. However, the appointment of Nuno Santo has once again left his future up in the air.
Now, Football.London have claimed that Spurs are once again assessing whether to use Sessegnon, or allow him on loan. It’s suggested that the club want him to play regular football.
A decision on Sessegnon will ultimately come down to Santo, according to the report. There’s a suggestion that the ex-Fulham ace could be used in a more attacking sense, should Santo go for his trusty 3-4-3 formation.
Sessegnon is contracted with Spurs until 2025 but there is a growing feeling that he needs to start playing. The club will want to see a return on their investment at some point.
However, another loan wouldn’t do him any harm. While Sessegnon will want to play for Spurs, patience might be key here.
Tottenham do have themselves a fine young player on their hands. But now 21, he has to kick on. Perhaps a Premier League loan could be the next logical step.
Indeed, it was only a few months ago that reports suggested he could be sold. Sessegnon, then, will need to be somewhat careful.
