All is not lost it seems when it comes to Spurs and Gareth Bale having a future together, according to reports from ESPN today.

A detailed report from the outlet goes into depth about how Spurs plan to rebuild in the summer and enjoy success next season. Key to that, of course, is keeping hold of Harry Kane.

As well as keeping Kane, new manager Nuno Santo must also decide on who he wants to keep, as well as which new players he wants to bring in to improve the squad.

And one of those players could well be Real Madrid and Wales star Bale.

ESPN claims that Tottenham are ‘very open’ to the Welshman returning to the club, and have a first option on him. It’s suggested that Bale is likely to return to the agenda next week, with his future in Madrid still unclear.

Quality

There is no doubting Bale is a world-class player. On his day, he’s still as good as any wide forward in the world. The issue Spurs have is he’s 32, and also on huge money.

Last season, in fairness to Bale, he did well when he got the chance. He scored 11 Premier League goals and 16 overall, including six in the final six games of the season.

Much will come down to if Nuno Santo fancies him as part of his squad, and also if Bale wants another return to London. But Spurs fans will be pleased that he’s a name still in the mix.
