Tottenham Hotspur have made an approach to Wigan Athletic over Joe Gelhardt and Jensen Weir, according to a report from The Sun.
Spurs are heading into a crucial transfer window. Jose Mourinho will hope to properly stamp his mark on the squad having arrived earlier in the campaign.

But while many Tottenham fans will be hoping to see the first-team strengthened, it appears that Mourinho is also keeping his eye on some exciting young players.
The Sun has reported that Spurs have joined Everton in tracking Gelhardt. Meanwhile, Brighton are providing competition for Weir.

The Sun adds that Tottenham have made an approach for the Championship side’s youngsters.
TBR View – Opportunity for Spurs
It has been a terrible week for Wigan fans. The club have entered administration, and they now need a strong end to the campaign if they are going to stay in the Championship.
Paul Cook has done an outstanding job with the Latics. But keeping the club in the second tier will surely not be enough to prevent some of their brightest talents leaving when the window opens.
With Spurs and Everton reportedly lurking, it would be little surprise if selling Gelhardt is an option that the club seriously consider in the coming months.
The 18-year-old boasts a handful of first-team appearances. But his record for England’s youth sides is remarkable.
In fact, The Sun adds that Spurs are hopeful that Gelhardt could be developed into the next Harry Kane.
Meanwhile, Weir is Wigan’s youngest debutant of all-time. He also scored against Tottenham’s under-18s in a 2-0 FA Youth Cup win earlier this year.
