Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool have both been in contact with Nikola Milenkovic’s representatives, with Italian outlet Calciomercato reporting that Fiorentina are starting to become resigned to losing him this summer.
Milenkovic’s future is very much up in the air. The 23-year-old is out of contract with La Viola at the end of next season.
Calciomercato reports that the Serie A side have not completely given up on convincing him to stay and sign a new deal. However, they have reportedly accepted that their hopes are slim.
In fact, the report claims that Spurs and Liverpool have already made contact with his entourage. It is also noted that Manchester United are also monitoring his situation.
According to the report, his asking price stood at £34.3 million (€40 million) last summer. However, his value has now dropped to around £25.8 million (€30 million).
For the likes of Spurs and Liverpool, it is not difficult to see why he would appeal as a summer target.
The Serbia international has made 24 appearances in the Italian top flight this year, scoring three times. And he does offer some versatility given his ability to play as a right-back.
Liverpool’s problems at centre-back have been well-documented. And the arrivals of Ben Davies and Ozan Kabak in January have hardly lessened the need for further reinforcements in the summer.
Spurs meanwhile, have not had a settled pairing for the entirety of the campaign either. And with Toby Alderweireld recently celebrating his 32nd birthday, Jose Mourinho would be wise to assess his options.
