Tottenham Hotspur, Everton and West Ham are amongst a host of Premier League clubs who have taken a look at Rangers defender James Tavernier, according to a report from the Daily Mail.

Tavernier is arguably playing the best football of his career right now. The right-back has led Steven Gerrard’s side to the top of the Scottish Premiership. They are also through to the knockout stages of the Europa League.

Remarkably, Tavernier is actually the leading goalscorer in the Scottish top flight this season. He has scored 10 goals, while he has 16 in all competitions.

Admittedly, many of those goals have come from the penalty spot. But it is not uncommon to see the 29-year-old bursting into the box from open play. He also tops the division’s assist charts, having set up seven league goals.

The Daily Mail has suggested that plenty of clubs in the Premier League have monitored the Englishman.

Along with Spurs, Everton and West Ham; Crystal Palace and Newcastle United have both reportedly shown interest.

The Mail does not suggest whether any of the quintet remain interested. But given his form right now, Rangers will surely be expecting some contact from clubs in January.

The Mail does note that he is out of contract in 18 months. So it would certainly be wise for the Gers to get a new deal agreed as soon as possible to ensure that any admirers can forget about paying a lower fee.
