Report: Spurs and Arsenal-linked World Cup-winning defender on club’s ‘exit list’, £27m price tag

Reported Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal target Samuel Umtiti is on a list of 12 players that Barcelona is happy to move on this summer, according to Marca.

Sky Sports claimed that Jose Mourinho’s Spurs were interested in Umtiti back in April, while The Sun suggested the same month that Mikel Arteta’s Gunners are long-time admirers of the 2018 World Cup winner.

The 26-year-old centre-back hasn’t had the luckiest of seasons – he has struggled for game time this season amid injuries and loss of form, making just 18 appearances in all competitions.

Umtiti lost his place to Gerard Pique and Clement Lenglet under Ernesto Valverde, and while he has got more game time under Quique Setien, he has still managed just 107 minutes of action since Spanish football resumed in June.

Now, Marca has reported that Barca are looking to move players on this summer to raise funds for potential new arrivals.

The purported 12-man “exit list” consists of Umtiti, Neto, Nelson Semedo, Junior Firpo, Ivan Rakitic, Arturo Vidal, Ousmane Dembele, Martin Braithwaite, Carles Alena, Rafinha, Jean-Clair Todibo and Philippe Coutinho.

While Umtiti is a world-class player, his recurring knee injury has been a major problem, and while there were hopes he could show what he’s capable of, playing just 107 minutes of football after the restart and missing the last five games due to injury is concerning.

According to Sport, Umtiti is valued at 30million Euros (£27million) and, when fit, he would no doubt be a top addition for either Mikel Arteta or Jose Mourinho – but they need to do their due diligence and ensure that they can get a reasonable amount of game time from him.
