Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal could both do with bolstering their midfield ranks this summer.

Both Spurs and the Gunners are likely to see several midfielders leave north London.

Tottenham currently have Tanguy Ndombele and Giovani Lo Celso out on loan. Both are unlikely to play for Antonio Conte again.

Meanwhile, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg is reportedly on Roma’s radar, while Harry Winks’ Spurs future is also uncertain.

As for Arsenal, Mohamed Elneny will be out of contract and Ainsley Maitland-Niles is out on loan with an uncertain future.

According to Tuttojuve, Spurs and the Gunners – as well as Newcastle United – are all eyeing Juventus ace Weston McKennie.

All three clubs are reportedly willing to spend about 40m euros (£34m) in hope of landing the United States international.

McKennie has found game time hard to come by under Massimiliano Allegri this season.

The 23-year-old has featured in only 28 matches across all competitions for Juventus.

That said, he has been out of action since February due to injury.

“Beauty and the beast”

Should Juve look to move McKennie on, then he’d be a great shout for Spurs or Arsenal.

He has been labelled ‘extraordinary‘ in the past and is highly rated in Italy and in his home country.

American legend Alexi Lalas, who has watched a lot of the midfielder over the years, was asked about him. He went on to compare him to three world-class midfielders.

Lalas said in an interview with Tuttosport: “He (McKennie) could be a new Gattuso, who (ex-Juve boss Andrea Pirlo) played with the original and knows how important it was for the balance of that Milan.

“McKennie has something of Gattuso, but also of Kante and Vidal. As they say here: Beauty and the Beast.

“Beauty and the beast both serve to win. And McKennie, as well as a conqueror of balls, also has excellent skills in the construction of the game and with his head he is always dangerous on inactive balls.”
