Tottenham Hotspur defender Jan Vertonghen is reportedly considering an offer from Real Betis, according to the Daily Star.

The 33-year-old is out of contract at the end of the season and it’s looking increasingly likely that he’ll be ending his eight-year association with Spurs.

Vertonghen joined Tottenham in the summer of 2012 for a reported £9.5million and has made upwards of 300 competitive appearances for the Lilywhites.

Although the Belgium international has been linked with a host of clubs including Inter Milan, Roma and Valencia, the Daily Star claims he’s been offered a two-year deal from Betis.

The outlet says the La Liga club have watched Vertonghen several times this season and have been in extensive talks with the player’s representatives.

That said, it has also been reported that the defender has not yet made a final decision on his future, and is indeed open to signing a new deal with Spurs.

While Vertonghen has been a great servant to Tottenham over the past eight years, it looks as though he’s heading for pastures new.

Previously a shoe-in for Spurs’ starting XI, he has been named on the bench on numerous occasions in the Premier League and Champions League this term.

With the financial uncertainty in the football industry in wake of the global health crisis, players with expiring contracts are expected to be highly sought after.

Indeed, the report says the queue of clubs hoping to sign Vertonghen is growing, so the ball is very much in his court with regards to finding the right club.
