Djed Spence was telling teammates back in January that he would end up joining Tottenham Hotspur, according to a report from The Athletic.
Spence became Spurs’ sixth signing of the summer on Tuesday. Antonio Conte’s men have paid an initial £12.5 million for the right wing-back, while the overall fee could rise to £20 million (via BBC Sport).

Spence’s move has been on the cards for some time. He went into this summer off the back of an outstanding loan spell with Nottingham Forest. He more than played his part as Steve Cooper’s men sealed promotion to the Premier League.
Spence was one of the players who looked destined to be playing in the top-flight this coming season whatever happened at the City Ground.

In fact, the 21-year-old seemed to be well aware of that. He even apparently knew where he was going.
According to The Athletic, Spence was telling his teammates from January that he would be joining Tottenham.
There was a chance that he could have made the switch in the winter window. However, The Athletic notes that it was ultimately too difficult a deal to put together given that he was out on loan.
Spence confident Tottenham move would go through
It is a little surprising that Spence was so confident that he would be joining Tottenham. But he deserves credit for not letting the move affect his performances for Forest.
Perhaps the prospect of joining Antonio Conte’s men helped Spence step up further. He was labelled ‘unbelievable‘ after his FA Cup showing in the win against Arsenal in January.
Spence has now secured his move. And Spurs appear to have signed a real gem for the coming years.
