Belgian international midfielder Hans Vanaken is now more open than ever to joining West Ham United this summer.

David Moyes is looking to add quality and depth to his Hammers squad before the end of the transfer window.

Belgian outlet Het Nieuwsblad report that Moyes has wanted the Club Bruges man for two years now.

And they say that Vanaken has never been more open to making the move to east London than he is at the moment.

Vanaken open to West Ham move

They say Vanaken knows he will not get too many more chances to make the move away from Belgium and to a major European league.

But Bruges are currently adamant that he is not for sale, and it remains to be seen if they will alter their stance in the weeks ahead.

The report says the Hammers have made a bid worth an initial £8.4 million, plus bonuses, which has been laughed off as derisory.

Vanaken would also be one of the tallest players in the squad at 6ft 5in, and would make West Ham an even more dangerous side from set pieces.

However, one of Vanaken’s former teammates said in an interview that the ‘special’ thing about him is that he plays with his feet like a man much shorter than that.

Onur Kaya added: “Honestly, I think he’s stronger than a Dele Alli. For me he has his place at sixteen of the twenty Premier League clubs.”
