West Ham United have received a potential boost in their attempts to offload Carlos Sanchez, with Football London reporting that there has been interest from Spain in the midfielder.

Sanchez has proved to be a poor signing for the Hammers. The 33-year-old arrived in 2018, but has managed just three Premier League starts.

In total, he has made just 18 appearances for the Irons. So it will come as little surprise that the club are looking to move him on this month.

However, the report notes that the clubs open to signing the former Aston Villa man have to make room in their squad before they make a move for the midfielder.

Of course, with the transfer deadline just a couple of days away, that could prove problematic for the Hammers. Time is running out for his admirers to address the issues blocking a move for Sanchez.

TBR View – Correcting mistake will provide late boost for West Ham

The writing appears to have been on the wall for Sanchez for some time. And it looks unlikely that he will get the chance to feature too often for David Moyes’s men should he remain at the club beyond this month.

So it would be little surprise to see West Ham do all they can to make his exit as likely as possible.

Spotrac shows that he earns £50,000-a-week at the London Stadium. That is a remarkable figure for a player who has featured so little.

It may prove too late to reinvest that money on a potential target during this window. But the Hammers could certainly do with getting that contract off the books as soon as possible.
