Spanish outlet SPORT have claimed that Barcelona’s attempts to renew a deal for striker Rafa Mujica have “stalled”, amid rumours that he has signed an agreement with Championship side Leeds United.
The 20-year-old striker is out of contract at Barcelona this summer, and it looks as though the Spanish giants are looking to offer the forward a new deal to keep him at La Masia.
Mujica has been in decent form for Barcelona’ second string this season, scoring seven goals in 33 games. Barcelona’s reserve side play professionally at senior level, in the third tier of Spanish football.
Newspaper Marca claimed earlier this month, though, that Leeds had agreed to sign Mujica from Barcelona. He joins Kun Temenuzhkov and Oriol Rey in players that have swapped Barcelona’s B-team for Leeds.

But it looks as though Barca are keen to keep Mujica, but as contract talks have stalled, it could play into Leeds’ hands.
TBR’s view
Leeds have plenty of options in Carlos Corberan’s Under-23 side. Ryan Edmondson has banged the goals in for Leeds, while Kun has impressed since joining the club from Barca.
So, does Mujica have a chance of breaking into the senior side, or even the second string? It is a tall order, but the firsts certainly need a striker and Edmondson could be pushed up to the firsts.
On a free, the Spaniard would be a strong signing. But whether Leeds need him, it remains to be seen.
