Southampton are willing to sell Danish defender Jannik Vestergaard this summer, according to reports, and Leicester City are interested in securing his services.
It is reported by The Times that, as well as captain Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, the Saints could sell his international colleague this summer.
The report states that Leicester are interested in the player, who has two years left on his deal at St Mary’s.
Leicester were linked with a move for Vestergaard in January. As reported by The Sun, the Foxes were preparing a £15 million move for the player as Brendan Rodgers looked to strengthen his options at the back.
It came as something of a shock to Leicester fans, considering Vestergaard’s horror-show display in a 9-0 defeat to Rodgers’ side earlier in the campaign.
Unfortunately for Leicester, Southampton rejected the move, with The Mirror (30/01/2020; pg 53) suggesting the Saints valued him in the £25 million region.
Leicester eventually brought in Wolves defender Ryan Bennett on loan until the end of the season, a move which will not be made permanent, according to the Leicester Mercury.
However, it would now appear that Southampton are ready to cash in on the 6ft 6ins defender, despite an improved campaign on the South Coast under Ralph Hasenhuttl.
Leicester might be able to get a hold of their target for their original valuation this summer.
