Report: Southampton want Celtic star Postecoglou signed
Kyogo Furuhashi may have only joined Celtic in the summer, but the Japan international is already attracting attention, with reports claiming that Southampton want the forward.
What’s the story?
According to Calciomercato, the Saints have set their sights on Kyogo. It comes with the 26-year-old making a fantastic start to life at Parkhead.
The attacker arrived for a fee of around £4.6 million (The Scottish Sun). And he has gone on to score eight goals in 11 appearances in all competitions.
The highlight came when he scored a hat-trick against Dundee back in August.
Celtic fans will have certainly expected interest in Kyogo to emerge at some stage. However, they will be hoping that he is not on the move at the first available opportunity.
Celtic fans will be furious if Kyogo is sold to Southampton
Ange Postecoglou has not had the easiest time since arriving at Parkhead. But there are some promising signs. And Kyogo is definitely one of them.
He does miss a fair share of chances. But his movement is absolutely outstanding. And some of his touches seem outrageous.
Losing him therefore, is surely not an option for Celtic if they hope to achieve anything this season.
Southampton will have to be prepared to spend big.
They have signed a number of Celtic players down the years. And that may leave some Hoops fans feeling sceptical about the links.
But they will be expecting Kyogo to attract interest at some stage. Perhaps, Southampton may be the first to test their resolve.
