Southampton have told Harry Lewis that he will be allowed to leave the club on loan before the transfer window closes on Friday, according to a report from the Daily Mail.
Lewis looks to be the current fourth-choice at St Mary’s. Alex McCarthy has started the season as Ralph Hasenhuttl’s first choice.

Meanwhile, the Daily Mail has hinted that Southampton may have been open to offers for Fraser Forster and Angus Gunn during the window. But finding clubs to cover their wages has proved problematic.
And the Mail has suggested that that has left the door open for Lewis to move on.

TBR View: Impressive loan spell could take Lewis up pecking order
On paper, it looks to be a daunting task lying ahead for Lewis as he tries to push his way up the pecking order. However, he can surely hold out some hope that he does not have to be fourth-choice for long.
It is an ominous sign for Forster that his superb loan spell at Celtic was not enough to wrestle the gloves for McCarthy. Meanwhile, Gunn’s stock also took a hit during his run in the Saints’s side.
And of course, it does appear that Southampton would have been open to offers for the pair this summer.
So while a loan move may look like a step back for Lewis, perhaps it may represent the best way for the 22-year-old to ultimately take several forward on the south coast.
