Report: Southampton on the verge of signing £20k-a-week ace
Southampton are on the verge of signing Lyanco, according to Sky Sports.
The Saints sold Jannik Vestergaard earlier in August and they appear to have secured his replacement.
Southampton have been heavily linked with the Torino centre-back in recent days.
Indeed, Fabrizio Romano claimed on Monday that it was a done deal.
According to the esteemed journalist, the Saints will pay Torino €7.5million (around £6.4million) for the £20,000-a-week defender.
Now, Sky Sports has claimed that Lyanco underwent a medical at Southampton on Monday.
Torino did not include him in the squad for their opening Serie A game of the season on Saturday, a 2-1 loss to Atalanta.
Lyanco started his career at Sao Paulo before moving to Torino in 2017.
The 24-year-old also spent the second half of the 2018-19 season on loan at Bologna.
Lyanco, who represented both Serbia and Brazil at youth level, has also been linked with Watford and Udinese this summer.
The 6ft 2in powerhouse would be Southampton’s sixth signing of the summer if he does join.
The Saints have signed Romain Perraud, Tino Livramento, Adam Armstrong and Theo Walcott permanently.
In addition, Southampton have snapped up Armando Broja on loan from Chelsea.
