Southampton are eyeing a move for Tottenham midfielder Harry Winks this summer, as they look to bolster their squad ahead of the season, according to the Daily Mail.
In May, Saints boss Ralph Hasenhuttl told the Daily Echo that captain James Ward-Prowse will remain at the club. And according to the latest reports, Southampton are now keen on a move for his compatriot, Winks, as his potential partner in the centre of the pitch.
The report states that the Saints want to bolster their central midfield options and have now identified Winks as a target.
The 26-year-old was dubbed as ‘amazing’ by former Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino back in 2019.

The midfielder broke into the first-team under the Argentine in 2016 and enjoyed a great spell under him, with notable performances against Real Madrid in the Champions League in 2017.
But since his departure, he has struggled to nail down a place in the starting lineup under Jose Mourinho, Nuno Espirito Santo and now Antonio Conte.
Last season, he made 19 appearances for Spurs in the Premier League and 10 of them were as a substitute.

Winks was also left out of Spurs’ pre-season squad for their tour of South Korea on Saturday, alongside Giovani Lo Celso, Tanguy Ndombele and Segio Reguilon.
Tottenham reportedly value Winks at around £20 million (90 minutes) and Everton have also shown interest in recent weeks.
TBR’s view: Winks needs a fresh start and Southampton could be the perfect place
It seems inevitable that Harry Winks will leave Tottenham this summer and after becoming a squad player over the last two seasons, it’s the right time to move on.
Southampton seems like a great fit for him too, as similarities can be drawn between Hasenhuttl and Pochettino’s high-energy styles, and Winks played his best football under the Argentine.
