Southampton want to sign LASK Linz winger Thomas Goiginger in a £5m move, according to The Daily Mail. Goiginger has been on Southampton’s radar since January and a move could happen this summer.
The Austrian winger is well-known to fellow countryman Ralph Hasenhuttl. And as Hasenhuttl plans his Southampton revolution, Goiginger features towards the top of his list.
Goiginger currently plays for Linz, who are second only to Red Bull Salzburg in the Austrian Bundesliga. Linz do not want to sell Goiginger but £5m would test their resolve.
The 26-year-old has been Linz’s star performer this season. With 14 goals and 17 assists in 40 games, he is a constant threat, operating from either flank.
This takes his total tally to 21 goals and 23 assists in 76 games for Linz. Prior to that, he has played for numerous Austrian clubs but he could test himself in a new country now.

Southampton appear set to take a £5m gamble on the speedy winger, who received his first call-up to the Austrian national team last November.
The player is keen on moving to the Premier League and teaming up with Hasenhuttl. And he could be Hasenhuttl’s first signing as Saints manager.
Southampton are trying to sign at least one new winger, despite the recent form of Nathan Redmond, who earned an England call-up.
