Southampton are keen on signing Anderlecht youngster, Marco Kana, who is said to be attracting attention from across Europe.

According to Voetbalkrant, the Saints have joined the race for Kana, who is valued highly by the Belgian side after an impressive campaign in the Jupiler league.

Kana, 18, is said to be keen on a move to England to further his career. Back in November 2020, Kana told Walfoot that he dreamed of a move to England but admitted that Liverpool would be his preferred destination.

The impressive teenage defender has made 22 appearances this season. Kana is being tipped to make a big impression on the European stage and potentially emulate the likes of Vincent Kompany in the Premier League.

Southampton have made a habit of signing impressive young players in recent seasons. Ralph Hassenhuttl’s exciting brand of football makes them an attractive place to play football, meaning Kana could well be tempted.

TBR View: Liverpool via Southampton…again?

It would follow the pattern of recent seasons if Southampton got themselves a player, developed them, and then moved them on to Liverpool.

We’ve seen it with Van Dijk, Lallana, and others in recent years. Kana looks a quality young player and will no doubt forge a fine career if he can continue on the right path.

In fairness, too, a move to the Saints might work out better. First-team chances at Liverpool are bound to be difficult to come by anyway so if he does come to England, Hassenhuttl might be ideal for him.
