Southampton are interested in signing Michael Keane on loan from Everton with Nathan Jones keen to strengthen at centre-back this month, according to Sky Sports.
The Saints appear to be in big, big trouble as things stand. They sit bottom of the Premier League table and have lost their last six games in the top-flight. Their last win came back in October.

Jones is already coming under serious pressure. But the more positive news for the Saints is that the transfer window is open. And they are working on strengthening in a couple of areas.
Southampton want Michael Keane on loan
Sky Sports reports that Southampton are in the market for a new striker. Meanwhile, they would also like to sign a centre-back on loan.

And according to Sky Sports, one of the players they are interested in is Keane.
Keane has endured a nightmare season at Goodison Park so far. The 29-year-old has only made one appearance in the Premier League.
He will surely welcome the chance to move on this month. But Everton may be wary of letting him move to St Mary’s. The Toffees also find themselves in the relegation zone right now. So the Saints will be rivalling them to get out of danger.
Having said that, Frank Lampard may not shut the door on the idea either. Spotrac shows that Keane is on £80,000-a-week on Merseyside. So his departure – even on loan – would presumably free up some space on the wage bill.
And given that he has been out of favour, Everton may not be too concerned about the prospect of letting him join Southampton.
But Keane has previously been an impressive performer. He is an England international who cost the Toffees £30 million. He has been described as ‘top-class‘ in the past.
And it would not be the best look for Everton if he did do well on the south coast given the problems the Toffees are enduring right now.
