Southampton are growing increasingly confident that they will be able to sign Everton winger Theo Walcott on loan, according to The Telegraph’s live transfer blog (5/10; 9:32).
The Saints are looking to end a quiet window on a high. Ibrahima Diallo has arrived. And it now appears that their focus is now on bringing a former Saint back to the club.

According to The Telegraph’s live transfer blog (5/10; 9:32), Ralph Hasenhuttl’s men are hopeful of landing Walcott on loan.
The 31-year-old has become a peripheral figure at Goodison Park in more recent times. And with Spotrac showing that he earns £100,000-a-week, it appears to make a lot of sense for Carlo Ancelotti’s men to look at offloading the wide-man before the deadline passes.

A loan move to St Mary’s therefore, looks to make sense for all parties.
Walcott will strengthen the Saints’ options in the final third. Meanwhile, the Toffees will be able to take a large slice off of their wage bill.
It will be intriguing to see how Walcott gets on back at Southampton. It looks to be an exciting time to play for Hasenhuttl’s side, who have won their last two in the Premier League.
He now has 75 top flight goals under his belt. And perhaps – if there is scope for a further deal to be done at some stage – he can target bringing up that century with the club he previously left as a 16-year-old almost 15 years ago.
