Southampton are considering a summer move for Angelo Fulgini, with French outlet Le 10 Sport reporting that they failed to sign the Angers midfielder in January.

The Saints appear to have produced a transfer masterstroke after shopping from Ligue 1 in recent times. The early signs suggest that Ibrahima Diallo is going to be a fantastic player for Ralph Hasenhuttl’s men over the coming years.

Fulgini has been hugely impressive in the top flight this season. He has scored four goals and provided three assists.

No Angers player has had a direct hand in more goals this term. His form has inspired Stephane Moulin’s side into the top-half of the table.

And his form is not going unnoticed. Le 10 Sport reports that Marseille are planning to make a move in the summer. And according to the report, the Saints are also in the running.

It is claimed that Hasenhuttl’s men wanted to sign him in January. And Le 10 Sport has suggested that he is unlikely to cost anything less than £13.1 million (€15 million).

Southampton certainly need to bolster their ranks in the summer. Hasenhuttl has had to turn to a number of young players this term due to injuries and suspensions.

Fulgini is already one goal away from equalling his most prolific season for goals and assists to date. And given his age, he may well be approaching what could be the peak years of his career.

Southampton will certainly be hoping that he continues to shine over the coming months if they are indeed considering a summer move.
