Southampton are considering a move for Artur Jorge in the January transfer window.
According to A Bola, Southampton have been monitoring Vitoria de Setubal defender Jorge. Having conceded 29 goals in the league already this season, Ralph Hasenhuttl knows a new defender is a priority.
The Saints recently shipped nine goals at home to Leicester City and there are some big question marks surrounding the defence. Hasenhuttl now wants to dip into the transfer market to reinforce his options.

Jorge currently plays for Setubal and Southampton could make a bid of around £1.3m. Setubal do not want to lose their star defender, though, and he is tied down until summer 2021.
The 25-year-old is a central defender who has previously played for Braga. Southampton hope that he can be the bargain defender they need to lift them out of the relegation zone.
TBR’s view
Jorge has been a part of a very impressive Setubal defence that has only conceded seven goals this season. Only Porto and Benfica have better records. This is in stark contrast to Southampton’s fortunes.
Hasenhuttl needs to do something urgently or he will lose his job and Southampton could go down. Jorge is an unproven quantity in the Premier League but he might be the wildcard signing they need.
