Report: Southampton close to an agreement for Perraud
Southampton are edging closer to an agreement for Romain Perraud, according to Le10 Sport.
The publication are claiming that the Saints are close to agreeing on a €10m (£8.6m) fee for the full-back.
It was revealed back in January that Marcelo Bielsa had been scouting the player for several months.
The Gunners are close to letting Sead Kolasinac leave the club this summer. The Bosnian has drawn interested from Fenerbahce, according to Turkish sources.
TBR View: Southampton agreement a coup amid Arsenal interest
After Arsenal registered their interest in the player, those associated with Southampton probably feared the worst.
The Gunners are a massive club and have immense pulling power when it comes to transfers.
Their deal for Thomas Partey last summer and Nicolas Pepe back in 2019 pay homage to that.
However, the fact the south coast outfit are close to reaching an agreement is a coup for the club.
The club’s struggles at left-back are well documented.
Ryan Bertrand is set to leave the club when his contract expires this month. Meanwhile, backup, Sam McQueen, has suffered a long-term injury problem.
It alleviates a key problem for Hasenhuttl, who is close to sealing a deal for a left-sided defender.
The Austrian can now focus on the more worrying aspects of his squad like in attack.
Meanwhile, Arsenal will have to continue to scour the market for a back-up to Kieran Tierney.
Kolasinac’s seemingly impending exit will leave a gaping hole behind the Scotsman ahead of next season.
The news Southampton are close to an agreement for Perraud is brilliant. And the fact, they’re beating the likes of the Gunners to a move is even sweeter.
