Tottenham Hotspur secured their place in the next round of the FA Cup with a routine win over Portsmouth.

Harry Kane’s second-half goal decided the result as Antonio Conte’s side barely broke a sweat.

Football London journalist Alasdair Gold has discussed some of the key talking points from yesterday’s match.

Antonio Conte was able to give a number of key players a rest yesterday.

Hugo Lloris, Cristian Romero and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg were all unused substitutes.

Spurs lost Yves Bissouma to an injury in the warm-up, but he looks set to be available to face Arsenal.

Meanwhile, Pape Matar Sarr played his first full 90 minutes for Spurs, while Alfie Devine was given a late cameo off the bench.

Gold’s report also shared some positive news about another Tottenham youngster.

He has shared that Son Heung-min was delighted to see young forward Dane Scarlett after the match.

The teenage forward is on loan at Portsmouth, and was cup tied against his parent club.

However, he was still present to see Tottenham progress, and Son was over the moon to bump into him.

Son delighted to see Scarlett yesterday

Football London’s report shares that,  “The striker [Scarlett] was not allowed to play against his parent club and instead watched from the sidelines, coming down to the tunnel area to greet the players as they came off after the game.

“Son was clearly delighted to see his young team-mate, hugging him and sticking around for a long chat.”

Scarlett has enjoyed a mixed spell at Portsmouth so far this season.

In 21 league appearances, Scarlett has managed just three goals and two assists.

He last started a game at the beginning of December, and hasn’t scored in the league since September.

However, manager Danny Cowley has just been sacked, and despite being a big fan of Scarlett’s, he might need a new coach in charge to help get his form on track.

He’s been backed to have a big future ahead of him, but Scarlett needs to be finding the back of the net more regularly.

Football London believe ‘Spurs will no doubt look closely’ at whether to recall Scarlett if he’s not playing enough.

Son would be delighted to have Scarlett back by the looks of it. The most likely scenario may end up being another loan move elsewhere.
