Newcastle United are still undecided on their next manager with some at the club now pushing for the appointment of Frank Lampard ahead of Paulo Fonseca.
The Telegraph reports the news today. They claim that Lampard is the clear favourite among some involved from PIF and that even though Amanda Staveley likes the idea of Fonseca, others prefer the former Chelsea boss.
Lampard, 43, has emerged among a cluster of names linked with taking over from Steve Bruce in the Northeast. The former Chelsea and England man is out of work having yet to take another job on after leaving Stamford Bridge.

But while many expected Newcastle to go for Fonseca, The Telegraph claims Lampard’s big-name status is convincing some of the consortium that he is the one for the club. Indeed, there is so much debate, that Graeme Jones has been told he will be in charge for at least three games.
Lampard is thought to have been spoken to in the last few days, although the Telegraph admits this is not confirmed.
TBR’s View: Disagreements already? Or just a careful process?
This points to there already been some sort of division at board level at Newcastle here. Put simply, they need that Director of Football in place.
Lampard is a good name to be fair to him. Like Fonseca, he is a younger manager with a good reputation. But this indecisiveness will worry some at the club and the fans.
Newcastle need to get the right man in charge. So whether it is a case of being diligent, or there is other plays at hand, remains to be seen.
