Report: Simone Inzaghi could now help Tottenham appoint another manager
Italian newspaper Il Stampa claim that Tottenham want to appoint Antonio Conte. Now, their pursuit of the Inter boss could be helped by Lazio’s Simone Inzaghi.
Ex-Chelsea boss Conte is believed to be one of the front-runners for the Spurs job. The Serie A winner is said to be under consideration at Spurs with his Inter future in doubt, if reports are true.
The 51-year-old is set to enter the last 12 months of his contract, despite his successes. Whether Spurs can tempt him though, remains to be seen.
Meanwhile, Simone Inzaghi is also being linked. Reports from Italy claiming earlier this week that Spurs were in the ‘lead’ for Inzaghi. It is believed he is to have a meeting with Lazio’s president today.
His contract at Lazio is about to end and while he is expected to sign – Spurs are keen. Now, the latest report claims that Inter are looking at Inzaghi and could let Conte go if Inzaghi is keen. Inzaghi might help Spurs get Conte.
Tottenham installing Conte as manager would be incredible
So would Inzaghi. But unlike the Lazio gaffer, Conte has Premier League experience and a winners medal from his time at Chelsea. Clearly, Daniel Levy does not care if his managers have been at Chelsea in the past.
Luring Conte days after a Serie A title win to London with Tottenham is up there with Levy’s best achievements. Thought, it would be hugely expensive, Conte would take Spurs back to the Champions league.
