Sheffield Wednesday are reportedly the third club to be showing an interested in signing Tottenham youngster Troy Parrott this month.

Sky Sports previously reported that Queens Park Rangers and Charlton Athletic were keen on trying to secure a loan deal for the 17-year-old.

The Evening Standard is now claiming that Sheffield Wednesday are also in the pursuit alongside Championship rivals Charlton and QPR for the centre-forward.

It is understood that Parrott is “eager” to secure a loan deal away from Spurs for the rest of the season, but that he is set to sign a new long-term deal with them when he turns 18 on 4 February.

He’s played two first-team games for the North London club and is a product of the academy, but senior boss Jose Mourinho is refusing to rush him in.

TBR’s View:

Parrott is clearly a popular target for Championship teams and it will be intriguing to see if he’s snapped up before Friday’s deadline.

He may only be aged 17 without little experience, but has earned one senior international cap for Republic of Ireland and has been a goal machine at youth level.

The striker will know that Harry Kane first enjoyed a spate of loan spells earlier in his career before making a serious breakthrough and it looks like he wants to follow suit.
