Report: Sheffield United want Loren Moron

According to Informa Betis, Sheffield United are amongst the clubs interested in signing Real Betis striker Loren Moron this summer.

The 25-year-old Spaniard notched 6 goals in La Liga last season and was a key member of the Real Betis squad.

Following their promotion to the Premier League, Chris Wilder will be keen to improve the Blades’ frontline. Whilst the veteran forwards Billy Sharpe and David McGoldrick impressed at Bramall Lane last season, they both may struggle to cope with the pace and intensity of the top flight. Wilder would be wise to add another striker to his ranks, and Moron could be that man.

That being said, there may be better options out there for the Blades boss to consider. As per the aforementioned report, Moron isn’t desperate to leave the La Liga club behind. Sheffield United could therefore find themselves having to pay over the odds to sign him.

What’s more, Moron has hardly been prolific in the Spanish top flight. He has impressed at times, but he’s unlikely to be able to fire the Blades to safety if that’s what they need him to do.

It is vital that Sheffield United get good business done this summer ahead of the new season. For that reason, they should look at options beyond Moron. Wilder should be showing more ambition with his transfer targets.
