The report suggests that he featured for the Blades’ development side last week. And he started for their under-23s on Monday as they drew with Wigan Athletic.

The Latics twice took the lead in the game, and Sheffield United did have a man sent off. However, they managed to come back and secure a 2-2 draw.

It is not clear what the future holds for Leak-Blunt. But he is not the first youngster that Leeds have seemingly had high hopes for before allowing to pursue a chance with a Premier League side.

Striker Sam Dalby joined Watford on a permanent deal in the summer. Meanwhile, Callum Nicell was given a similar opportunity to Leak-Blunt earlier this season.

Nicell – who had been on the first-team bench during his time at Elland Road – featured for the Blades’ under-23s and also got a chance at Leicester City.

He was released by Leeds back in September. And it will be intriguing to see whether Leak-Blunt may soon also be on his way out of Elland Road with those at Bramall Lane taking a look at the youngster.
