Sheffield United boss Chris Wilder is hoping that his side can beat Tottenham Hotspur to the signing of Championship sensation Eberechi Eze when January arrives, according to a report from The Sun.

Eze has been outstanding for Queens Park Rangers this season. The 21-year-old has already scored nine goals for Mark Warburton’s men, while he has also provided four assists.

The Sun reports that Spurs and Southampton have both been monitoring the forward. But it appears that another top flight side are looking to steal a march on their rivals for his signature.

The Sun suggests that the Blades are hoping to win the race for Eze, who could apparently cost £12 million. It is noted that his enormous sell-on value makes him particularly appealing to Wilder’s men.

TBR View – Spurs cannot miss out

If Eze really is available for just £12 million, Tottenham would be making a big mistake letting him head elsewhere next month.

He looks to be a stunning talent. And it looks a safe bet to suggest that that asking price will quickly prove to be an absolute bargain.

There is potentially no better time for Jose Mourinho to introduce an exciting youngster into the first-team fold than right now either. Spurs find themselves sixth in the Premier League, and this season looks to be an opportunity to create a platform to build from next year.

Eze would face plenty of competition to get into Tottenham’s side. But he is arguably the kind of player who could quickly establish himself as a fan favourite.

Letting him head to Bramall Lane therefore, would arguably be a huge error from Spurs.
