Tottenham’s January transfer window will revolve around trimming their squad as opposed to buying new faces in if it all goes to plan, according to the Daily Telegraph.
They report that the Argentine feels that his squad is bloated and wants to trim some of the fat rather than introduce new blood in the winter.
As per Sky Sports, Pochettino said after Tottenham’s penalty shoot-out defeat to Colchester on Tuesday: “We are working so hard to put everyone on the same page.
“Only we need time. January is going to be a good opportunity too to fix this situation and the next one. That is the problem when something happens that you cannot control.”

TBR’s View – Bizarre that Tottenham’s squad simultaneously needs trimming but also a boost of quality
Pochettino clearly feels he needs to clear the decks before adding the extra quality across the pitch that he needs to take Tottenham on once more.
Some players look to have gone as far as they can go under him, and when that’s combined with big hitters not committing their future to the club, it’s understandable that uncertainty has set in.
Perhaps Tottenham fans would have been more excited about the prospect of bodies coming in during the winter window – with Paulo Dybala’s name still refusing to go away.
But they must accept that some players need to go. That said, they must be replaced by hungry players of a better quality and will Daniel Levy spend the money required? That’s always the question.
