Tottenham Hotspur reportedly blocked Paulo Gazzaniga’s potential move to Everton yesterday.
The Argentine stopper became linked with a move to Goodison Park around midday on transfer deadline day, following Jordan Pickford’s poor showing against Brighton at the weekend.

But according to the Telegraph, Spurs didn’t want to sell or loan their man to the Toffees as they consider them a potential rival for a Champions League place this season.
Everton, of course, have made a fantastic start to the 2020/21 season, winning all four of their Premier League games so far and scoring 12 goals in the process.
Whether Carlo Ancelotti’s side can sustain their brilliant form remains to be seen, but their side is certainly much improved for having the likes of James Rodriguez, Allan and Abdoulaye Doucoure in it.
TBR’s View – Cautious Spurs did right
Spurs’ main aim this season is to get back into the Champions League themselves.

£20,000-a-week star Gazzaniga (Spotrac) is a very capable Premier League goalkeeper, who would have provided a stern challenge for Pickford had he been permitted a move to Merseyside.
It makes sense that Spurs did not allow the South American to sign for Everton.
Ancelotti’s currently free-scoring side may ultimately end up fading away, but Tottenham really couldn’t take that chance.
