Nottingham Forest look set to miss out on signing Harry Arter this summer, with The Sun on Sunday (20/9; page 57) reporting that his wage demands are proving problematic.
Sabri Lamouchi is coming under pressure two games into the new campaign. Forest have lost both of their opening fixtures, with Cardiff’s 2-0 win at the City Ground on Saturday causing particular concern amongst the fans.
And it appears that they are now set to receive a blow in the transfer market.
The Sun on Sunday (20/9; page 57) reports that they are set to miss out on landing Arter. It is claimed that the Bournemouth midfielder wants a deal worth £30,000-a-week.
TBR View: Forest right to step away from Arter talks
There may be some Forest fans who are disappointed to miss out on Arter. He is a player with plenty of experience across the top two tiers.
Nevertheless, it would appear that Forest are right to look elsewhere with the midfielder demanding so much.
He was part of the Fulham side that won promotion last season. And Forest fans will need no reminding of his stunning finish at the City Ground – although it must be noted that it should not have stood due to a handball from the Republic of Ireland international in the buildup.
But he did not have the best spell at Craven Cottage. That controversial winner was one of only two goals he scored all season.
Therefore, Forest are right to think that they would be better off focusing their attention elsewhere.
