Arsenal will save themselves a big compensation bill should Unai Emery make a swift return to the Premier League amid links with Everton, according to a report from The Telegraph.

Emery was dismissed last week in the wake of an underwhelming tenure at the Emirates. The Gunners made a change after the Spaniard had not won any of his last seven games in charge.

But it appears that Emery is interested in a quick return to the dugout. The Telegraph reports that contact has been made with Everton as they search for Marco Silva’s successor.

It must be noted that Emery does not appear to be a leading candidate for the Goodison Park post. The Telegraph reports that positive talks have been held with Vitor Pereira.

But it is suggested that Arsenal may want to see Emery appointed on Merseyside. According to The Telegraph, the Gunners will save themselves a big bill in compensation if he makes a quick return to managing in the Premier League.

Of course, there is a danger that Emery could come back to haunt Arsenal. He has enjoyed success during his managerial career. And he may perhaps find that the Toffees suit him better for whatever reason.

But the Gunners may be more concerned about the financial boost as their own managerial search continues.

It presumably will not be a game-changing sum for the North London side. But perhaps it may give them more of a desire to consider a manager currently in another job as they will not be paying out two lots of compensation.
