Report shares whether Djed Spence will complete Tottenham medical in time to go on pre-season tour
Djed Spence is finally edging closer to completing his protracted move to Tottenham Hotspur and is pencilled in for a medical.
The Telegraph report that things have started to edge forward over the defender’s move from north London from Middlesbrough.
They report that Spurs expect to seal the signing before the weekend and the squad fly out for their pre-season tour of South Korea on Saturday.
The report says that Spence should have done his medical by then, meaning he will be free to link up with his new teammates in Asia.
Spence set for Tottenham medical
Boro and Spurs have apparently settled on an initial £15 million fee which could reach £20 million after instalments are completed.
Negotiations have been agonising, with it clear that the player wants to go to Spurs, and they want him, but the money not forthcoming.
Last month, it was reported that Daniel Levy had personally taken over Tottenham’s negotiations for Spence, and that may explain why it has been so slow, with every pound haggled over.
The report says Spence has been a priority target for Antonio Conte, during a summer where Spurs have got their business done uncharacteristically early.
Even the Spence deal, which has dragged on, looks set to be done before the pre-season tour, giving Conte a chance to do fitness and tactical work with him.
This is Conte’s first pre-season at Spurs, and it is important that he has as many of his new players with him on tour as possible.
