Report shares when Leandro Trossard could make Arsenal debut
Leandro Trossard could be in the Arsenal squad and potentially make his debut when the Premier League leaders face Manchester United this weekend after they agreed a £27 million deal for the Belgian, according to a report from The Times.
The Gunners have seemingly accelerated their pursuit of the 28-year-old over the last 24 hours. Mikel Arteta’s men are going to pay £21 million plus add-ons for the Brighton forward.
Fabrizio Romano has given Trossard’s move to Arsenal the Here We Go treatment on Twitter. Trossard has agreed terms with the Gunners. And it seems that a medical is now imminent.
Leandro Trossard could make Arsenal debut against Manchester United
Arsenal have a couple of massive games ahead. They face Erik ten Hag’s side in the Premier League on Sunday. And then Manchester City await in the fourth round of the FA Cup.
Trossard did not feature in Brighton’s third round win over Middlesbrough. So he will presumably be eligible for the game against Pep Guardiola’s side.
But his debut may come even sooner. The Times reports that Trossard could be in the Arsenal squad for the game at the Emirates this weekend – provided that he passes a medical.
It is a shrewd piece of business for Arsenal. Perhaps he is not the marquee name that supporters were initially hoping for. As The Times notes, they have also been linked with Mykhaylo Mudryk and Moussa Diaby.
But Trossard is proven in the Premier League. He has scored seven times this season. And he has 25 goals in the competition as a whole.
Arsenal do not necessarily need someone to improve the starting lineup. Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli have been absolutely outstanding this term.
Trossard can also play up front. So he ticks so many boxes.
Perhaps it is not the most exciting signing in the long-term. But if he plays a part in getting Arsenal over the line this season, no-one will care.
