Thanks to The Athletic, we’ve been given some insight on what the Crystal Palace players think of Patrick Vieira.
What’s the story?
Well, when writing a feature about what it’s like to play for the Frenchman, The Athletic included a nugget of fresh information at the end of the piece.
It revealed that some Crystal Palace players have a positive impression of the 45-year-old, as he nears the end of his first week in charge.
The Athletic believe Vieira – who was hired on July 4th – has reflected his caring and engaging personality to the Crystal Palace squad.
Now, this is very positive news.
First impressions are always key, and by the sounds of it, Vieira has come across as a genuine, warm figure in his early days in south London.
Patrick Vieira must be given time

With Chelsea, West Ham, Tottenham and Liverpool to play in the first five games of the new Premier League season, Vieira has to be given time.
As long as we start to see some sort of change in approach, and a sign of his tactical identity, that will be enough, in our view.
It’s too much to ask Vieira to get results from those four games straight away.

If he does, it’ll be great. The mood around SE25 would be one of jubilance.
However, if the Eagles lose all four, it’s not an issue.
Vieira is a long-term appointment, and it’s important for Steve Parish to give him time to grow into the role.
