Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp was seen having a chat with Sander Berge after the Reds had beaten Genk 2-1 at Anfield in the Champions League.
The German made a beeline for the 21-year-old in the tunnel after the final whistle, after the youngster had seemingly made an impression on him.
According to Norwegian daily VG, Klopp told the starlet that he is ‘a very interesting player’.
Speaking about the chat without giving away the intricacies, Berge said: “It was a great moment. You have a big smile when you receive those sorts of compliments.
“It is wonderful when such a renowned manager as Jurgen Klopp comes over and says something like that.”
Apparently Klopp is now considering a move for the highly rated Berge, who has already made 101 appearances for Genk, as well as 18 for Norway.
TBR’s view – A potential future signing?
Berge certainly caught the eye over the two games with Liverpool, and looks set to have a very bright future.
Klopp’s cheeky chat is likely to stick with Berge, and could have huge bearing when he feels the time is right to move on from Genk – which might not be too far off.
Liverpool do have Marko Grujic developing nicely out on loan at Hertha Berlin, but perhaps Berge is simply destined for Anfield.
