FSG view next year as the one to really start refreshing Liverpool’s squad, a report in the Athletic claim.
Plan being made
Liverpool have already landed Ibrahima Konate this summer, with more additions expected to follow over the remainder of the transfer window.
However, any wholesale changes to the squad may have to wait until next year.
The latest report in the Athletic claims that Liverpool’s owners are viewing 2022 as the point to really invest in the team.
They apparently feel that the market will be more settled by then, meaning they can shop around for better value for money deals.
Short-term disappointment?
The hope at Liverpool, therefore, is surely that their stance won’t cost them in the short-term.

Liverpool fell short last season in their bid to retain the Premier League title, although that was largely down to some severe injury problems.
Their issues with fitness did expose some areas of the squad which needed strengthening, however.
And the departure of Georginio Wijnaldum recently has also made them weaker.
It means that while FSG may want to be patient, there are still moves that need to be made this year.
And Jurgen Klopp and Liverpool will surely be wanting to make certain that the club’s board aren’t looking too far ahead with their transfer plans, as they look to mount a successful title challenge this time around.
